ABOUT SIEC
Who Are We?
The Saskatoon Industry-Education Council (SIEC) is a bridge between Saskatchewan’s career opportunities and Saskatoon area youth. Through a partnership among business, secondary and post-secondary schools, unique hands-on career exploration events and programs are designed and delivered to students, helping them find a career that connects their passion and natural talents with current and future workforce needs.
Last year, the SIEC worked with 30,000 youth, 1,600 educators and career practitioners, and over 1000 business and post-secondary representatives to co-create 40 programs and events. Over the last five years, more than 60,000 youth took part in SIEC programs and events. To achieve its vision of a community of shared responsibility, preparing youth for quality careers, the SIEC plays the role of career information conduit between students and employers.
The Saskatoon Industry-Education Council (SIEC) is a non-profit organization working with three school divisions (Saskatoon Public, Greater Saskatoon Catholic and Prairie Spirit), the Saskatoon Tribal Council, community-based organizations, government agencies and employers.
Our Team
The SIEC is governed by a visionary board of directors composed of representatives from business, secondary and post-secondary education, government, and industry associations.
Community partnerships and career exploration activities are built and administered by a diverse staff of permanent and contract employees led by Executive Director Janet Uchacz-Hart, a former teacher and career facilitator.
Our Community
Our community of shared responsibility is made possible through a growing list of participating youth and collaborators from education, industry, and government who contribute to SIEC capacity with investments of time, talent, goods, services and finances.
